Description

Trying to work out a way to do my bigger figure drawings. The method that is used a lot with the interior forms is to draw down the core shadow with the side of a pencil, then flat shade what falls in the shadow. It looks great at first glance but the potential as far as that technique can bring a drawing to popping off the page reaches its limit pretty quick.

I took a class with Ryan Wurmser last year, and he taught a method that would allow full control and shape manipulation from within the shadow into the light. In the end even the way the fat falls across an individual models arm can be described in how the form is handled. This in turn of just copying shapes and having a preconceived notion of what the shapes are. Anyways, I'm trying to get a handle on that, using what he taught and applying my own way of working into that.
